Migrate Access Control Server to the Cloud Project

In this project, I was tasked with migrating an on-premise 3xLOGIC Infinias server hosting 50+ access control door controllers to the cloud. Initially, I created an Infinias CLOUD account and consulted with the customer to identify users requiring access privileges, setting up different user accounts accordingly. Once the client’s access to the cloud account was confirmed, I executed a SQL query on the old server to generate a comprehensive report listing all users, groups, and access credentials.
Subsequently, I collaborated with the 3xLOGIC developer support team to input the generated data into an Excel file in the correct format for successful importation into the new Infinias CLOUD account backend. Following a smooth import process of all users, groups, and access credentials, I manually recreated schedules, zones, door behaviors, and specific rules applicable to each door in order to replicate the old server settings onto the new one.
I updated outbound addresses on each door for proper provisioning to Infinias CLOUD and added doors with correct zones while applying accurate rules so that designated users could access specific zones. After provisioning all doors and configuring them correctly within their respective zones and rulesets,I conducted thorough testing by using client badges at each door to ensure that individuals could access their designated areas without any issues.

Windows Server Migration Project

I was assigned a project to replace a client’s physical server running ESXi hypervisor, which hosted two virtual Windows servers. Firstly, I backed up both servers and created VM snapshots. Then, after assessing each server’s requirements, I collaborated with the client to determine the data and software that needed to be transferred to the new servers. One server served as a data server with file shares, while the other functioned as a domain controller and SQL server for “Genesis” software.
Following this, I scheduled a cutover date with the customer and involved the Genesis software support team to minimize downtime during database migration. I proceeded by setting up the new server host with ESXi’s latest version and creating two new VMs with adequate resources before installing the latest Windows Server version. Once ready, I deployed it at the customer site and confirmed remote access to the Windows servers.
After ensuring both old and new servers were on the same domain, I used Robocopy to transfer required data from old servers to new ones. On cutover night, I promoted the new domain controller and demoted the old one while coordinating with Genesis support for their database migration and workstation testing process. Post-verification of correct resource accessibility on workstations, I powered off the old server and ensured seamless operation on all systems..

Network Hardware Standardization Project

During the onboarding process for a new client, I undertook the task of replacing all existing hardware with new Datto managed networking equipment across their 45+ locations. Prior to going on-site, I configured the uninterruptible power supplies(UPS) switches, WAPs, and Firewalls by updating firmware, establishing IP addressing schemes, configuring VLANs and SSIDs, setting up firewall rules, and updating WAN interfaces with TCP/IP info from the ISP allowing for quick installation and seamless integration once on-site. Subsequently, I coordinated cutover dates with each location for deploying the new equipment. After removing the old hardware, I swiftly installed the new devices to minimize downtime. Following installation, I ensured all devices were operational which sometimes involved collaborating with other vendors to configure their equipment to connect to the new network. The next day, I followed up to address any lingering issues and documented all changes made at each location.

Workstation Azure AD Migration Project

Upon onboarding a new client lacking a Domain Controller for their Windows workstations, approximately 20 Windows PCs needed to be Azure AD joined. On each PC, I navigated to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school and initiated the process by selecting “Join this device to Azure Active Directory.” Users were prompted to log in with their Microsoft credentials, after which I configured Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using the Microsoft Authenticator app or their phone number.
As part of the project requirements, all local user data had to be migrated into the Azure profile manually. To accomplish this task, I logged in with a local admin account, shared each user profile, and transferred desired data from the old local profile. Additionally, I exported browser bookmarks and passwords before importing them into corresponding browsers within the new Azure profile.
Finally, in order to synchronize user settings and app data across devices, I enabled Enterprise State Roaming via the Azure administrator portal. This ensured seamless access and consistency for users accessing their profiles on different devices.
